Are you a school governor in Havering?

Would you like guidance on how issues such as misogyny and sexual harassment can be addressed within your schools?

Would your school benefit from resources to help meet key elements of the RSE curriculum?

Join us on 16th May at 17:30 for a free, 1 hour online Introduction to Ending Gender-Based Violence Toolkit session, as part of the Mayor’s Office’s £1 million pledge to support London’s educators to address GBV.

As a governor, you play a vital role in safeguarding children and young people. The aims of this session are to:

• Increase your awareness of Gender-Based Violence and its prevalence in Havering.

• Boost your knowledge on how your school can support with the topics discussed in the Toolkit.

• Aid your understanding of how Gender-Based Violence can be addressed by your schools with children and young people using the Toolkit’s exercises and activities.

The session will cover:

- An overview of the Gender-Based Violence discussed within the Toolkit.

- An opportunity for you to network with Governors across the Borough and share practice.

- Information on support services available to you as a governor and those impacted by Gender-Based Violence, which can be shared within the school and utilised within policies.

- Information on how your school can aid teachers to support children and young people when raising awareness on this topic, or when responding to disclosure.

This 1 hour event will take place on Zoom. You can attend from wherever you are on your own device.

Can our school send multiple governors?

Yes. We have 15 places on this course, so although you may book multiple tickets for your staff, please be mindful of other schools who may also wish to book.

Is this my only chance to attend?

This training is tailored to be relevant for governors in your borough. We do have other events for other boroughs. Get in touch if you are unable to attend this date, and we will see whether another event will be suitable.
